“We saw three river crossings in five days. The guide knew which bend was active without ever using GPS — he just read the wildebeest behaviour. The photography we came home with is genuinely better than anything I'd hoped for.”
About This Safari
Built for the river crossings. Five days, all Mara, July through October. We position you for the Mara River crossings the brochures show.
Between July and October roughly 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 350,000 gazelle move into the Maasai Mara from Tanzania. The crossings of the Mara River — where columns of wildebeest plunge into crocodile-thick water — are concentrated within a narrow window of time and place. This trip is built around finding them.
Five days. All in the Mara. We position you in a camp inside or directly adjacent to the Mara Triangle, where most crossings happen. Your guide and vehicle work the river day after day until the crossings happen. Most travellers see at least one in a week; many see several.
